Be Still, God has a Plan
What is going on out there? It’s mass hysteria! People are fighting over toilet paper, the soap and hand sanitizer shelves have been cleared out, the meat markets are empty, and the news only talks about one thing… The Coronavirus! (That word even comes up in auto correct now! That’s how famous it is!!) And now I have to homeschool my own kids? How can I be still? Does God really have a plan?
What’s going on out there?
Is it really that bad?
Are you trusting the news? Are you trusting your friends? Are you considering just going into hiding? (Not to be quarantined but just to stay away from media and people because you’re tired of the topic?) Who can you trust these days?
I know daily life is an unknown right now. We can’t tell the future. No one knows where this is headed. We don’t even know what to expect for next week!
Kids’ schools are closed. Churches have cancelled live worship services. Churches who rent school spaces have nowhere to gather. Sporting events have been cancelled. Even our small town local library closed their doors to the public! Mayhem!
Sweet sisters, I know anxiety is running on high right now.
But, please, be still. God has a plan for you.
Feel my calm in this moment.
Know that God has this all worked out and He has the best plan.
He doesn’t promise there will be no suffering. He doesn’t promise there will be no hardship.
But He does promise to be with us. He promises to give us the strength to get through. And in the meantime He tells us to “Be still.”
Psalm 46:10 rings strong in my mind during this recent craziness. “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
Friends, do you see this? He’s got a plan. He’s always got the best plan, even when we don’t see it. Even when we don’t agree with it. Even when we hurt during it.
But we know that His plan is best.
“Be still” does not mean to literally be still like stone, like we shouldn’t do anything to protect our families or prepare for the future. This means, we don’t have to fight for toilet paper or fear this sickness because we don’t have extra bottles of hand sanitizer!
Be still. Stay calm for your family. Know that God has it under control.
And here’s what I think is the best part of this Bible verse: His name will be exalted! He will prevail!
Can you help me? As a community, let’s strive to get others to see this amazing truth! God’s name will be exalted! He always wins!
Our attitudes through this pandemic can change the course of action. If we’re calm, our families are calm. If our kids are calm, their friends can remain calm. If our husbands are calm, their co-workers and our neighbors have the ability to be calm. Regardless of what you hear in the news, remain calm.
For you. For them. For me. Remain calm and know that He is God and God has a plan for us.
Use this down time to spend with your kids. Read with them. Bake with them. Play outside with them. Reconnect! Do something you haven’t had time to do because of the crazy school and sports schedules demand.
This calm can be seen as confidence and where does your confidence firmly rest? God. Our refuge and strength!
Palm 46:1 “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”
Friends, be well. Pray for each other. Take care of yourselves and your families while you fight the germs that are constantly around you.
Most importantly, be still and know that He is God. And God has a plan.
God be with you.
Please read the full chapter of Psalm 46. It’s definitely an encouraging chapter for what we’re going through right now. Then be sure to thank Him for your blessings.
